About 5-Amino-1MQ

Despite where it is shelved, 5-Amino-1MQ is not a peptide. It is a small molecule, a methylquinolinium derivative, and it works as a selective inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, usually shortened to NNMT.
NNMT consumes nicotinamide, which is a precursor the cell needs to make NAD+. In adipose tissue NNMT expression rises with obesity, and the research premise is that inhibiting it does two things at once: it stops nicotinamide being wasted, raising NAD+ availability, and it removes a brake on the metabolic activity of the fat cell itself. Published mouse work reported reduced adiposity without altering food intake, which is what made the compound interesting.
The distinction from NAD+ supplementation is worth being precise about. Injecting NAD+ or its precursors adds substrate to the system. Inhibiting NNMT stops the system from disposing of the substrate it already has. They are complementary approaches to the same pool rather than competing ones, which is why the two turn up together in stacks.

Where the evidence sits: the preclinical work on NNMT inhibition is genuinely interesting and reasonably consistent in rodents. There are no published human trials of 5-Amino-1MQ. Everything said about body composition in people is extrapolation from mouse data, and it holds no medicines licence anywhere.

Because this is a small molecule rather than a peptide the doses are milligrams rather than micrograms, and a 50mg pen carries 25 full 2mg draws. The dial moves in 167mcg steps.

Choosing between 5-Amino-1MQ, NAD+ and the MITO penAll three are aimed at the same target, cellular NAD+, from different directions. The NAD+ pen supplies the molecule directly, which is the most straightforward route and the one with the most human data behind it, thin as that still is. 5-Amino-1MQ instead blocks the enzyme that depletes it, which is a smaller intervention with a longer chain of reasoning attached.The MITO pen takes a third angle, combining NAD+ with SS-31 and MOTS-c to address mitochondrial function rather than the NAD+ pool alone.
